Ruby Tuesday: Mouthful of Seeds

I took this through my sunroom window so the image is a little grainy when you enlarge it but if you do you can see the cardinal has just about all he can eat crammed in that little orange beak.

  2. The Cardinal is a wonderful capture. He knows the best place to rest and eat - just outside your window, of course!

  3. Not just one but two happy birds! Love your shot of the cardinal. I have been meaning to do a watercolor painting of a cardinal - such handsome birds.

  6. Great closeup shot, Carletta. I enlarged it and saw the seeds in the cardinal's beak. I can't tell the photo is through a window.

    Happy Ruby Tuesday!

  7. That's nice, Carletta, that you can see these guys so good from your sunroom. It looks to me like they are talking with their mouths full.

  9. I guess the cardinal was afraid you wouldn't refill the feeder and wanted to get as much as he possibly could.

  10. A rather full beak, indeed! Great shot! We don't have cardinals here; they are bright and beautiful!

  14. I've not this close to a cardinal, he's such a cutie one and so is his color.

  15. So pretty! Cardinals don't live in the Pacific Northwest, so we never had one on a birdfeeder. But on our first trip East I was so excited to spot my first and I still love to find them when we travel -- they're an exotic species to us! I do miss having bird feeders.

  17. There are five pair of red birds in our back yard and I never tire of photographing them. I've even used one as my Ruby Tuesday badge.

  20. What a beautiful shot. I love the red of the cardinal.

I can't put a bird feeder out here - all I'd do is entice the pigeons to keep pooping all over my laundry lines!

  21. Excellent photo. And I just gotta add --- your bird feeder is so 'clean' looking. Ours is grubby all the time with tons of birds. LOL

  27. This is absolutely beautiful and precious. Cardinals such are such a gorgeous feathered friend!!!

Yes, if the male (which this is) is helping to feed babies, he can cram a lot in his beak and cheeks.
