Watery Wednesday: The Eye

(enlarge for best viewing )

I recently spent an evening trying to capture a splash of water. I was the one taking the picture and also the one trying to drop something in the water to make the splash. Not the way to practice I assure you.

The image above has a small splash to the right in the photo and it reminds me of a surfer. What really got me when I downloaded is what looks like an eye staring back at me in the black portion of the picture. The black spot is the plastic sink stopper. I was practicing in my kitchen sink so, no, there is no fish in the water. Not sure what you see; but I thought it rather spooky! It is Halloween month........

  2. I agree it's spooky. My first thought was "creepy," actually!

This is really creative, Carletta. And it does look a lot like an eye.

  6. Carletta, this is amazing when enlarged!
The right hand splash makes me think of a glass statue, skier. The eye is also an incredible effect.
    You're so creative!

  8. Now WHY on EARTH were you trying to capture a splash??? Huh? LOL! That is sweet little "plop" splash there... but the yea - the fish eye thing is kinda weird!

  9. Oh my, that does look like an eye -- and it does seem rather fishy, though it doesn't look like a fish eye! And I may be reading way to many sword & sorcery type novels, but I'm wondering if you haven't encountered an evil magician. Though what he would want in your kitchen sink is baffling ...

  13. This puddle picture is beautiful; you are so creative. I once tried to take a picture of boiling mudpots (in the Salton Sea CA area); somehow this picture reminded me of them -- a little spooky, wondering what is hidden down there. But beautiful and interesting to think about.

  14. It DOES indeed look like a big ole eye with a VERY large PUPIL. Maybe the eye of a WHALE or something? Very interesting and enjoyable!

  29. When enlarged you really get the full effect, it is even more creepy. Great shot of the water droplet.

Isn't it fun playing with water and seeing its movements and reactions?

  30. Fascinating results to your experiments. Reading about what you did reminds me of how long it took to learn to toss the tennis ball to Molly and get the camera in position to capture her catching it and running back to me ... but practice DOES make perfect and in the end seems to work quite effectively. Happy Wednesday! We finally DID get some rain at long last ;--)
