"Going to plant a weeping willow,
By the banks green edge it will grow, grow, grow.
Sing a lullaby beside the water,
Lovers come and go, the river roll, roll, roll.
Fare you well, fare you well,
I love you more than words can tell,
Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul."
~Grateful Dead

Great post...I remember my Grandfather and I planting Willow's up and down his entire land into their house. They were just beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a peaceful scene.
ReplyDeleteWeeping willows are such lovely trees. For some reason they remind me of hammocks and sultry summer days. Mmmmm.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture, Carletta! Is that a shot of the island? The weeping willows along the bank are beautiful. So is the gray house.
ReplyDeleteYea... so WHY is it that so many people thing the Greatful Dead are HARD acid rock music? They're stuff is soooooooooo good! And sO is your picture to go along with it!
ReplyDeleteA great view from the top. The water has a calming effect, and the lyrics to go with it.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like you are up so high when you took the photo. I love watching the river below. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a weeping willow and a peaceful water scene. A poem thrown in, makes things perfect.
ReplyDeleteGreat words to go along with this shot! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice wednesday!

Those are awesome. That's one of my Fav trees!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful it must be to live down there :)
What a wonderful scene. Love the lyrics as well!
ReplyDeleteMine is here
i like that house in the background
ReplyDeleteI think it's one of my favourite trees the weeping willow. Probably because she stands out, when Spring arrives.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo, would love to have that house by the river. Rented a cabin for the weekend once by one and it was one of the nicest experiences. I enjoyed the lyrics also, great addition to your post.
ReplyDeleteI remember they make good switches. Seems like the lyrics to that one go; "If you don't behave, I'm gonna cut me a willow switch and wear you out." Pappy
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture. Under those weeping willow trees would be a great place for a picnic.
ReplyDeleteThese willows look quite tidy and somewhat dignified in their uprightness...a peaceful scene with all the green surrounding the water.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Weeping Willows always remind me of childhood visits to Ohio and boating on the Huron River where many willows grew along the water's edge in people's yards. Thanks for taking me back in time.
ReplyDeleteNeat post. I love weeping willows, my grandma had a huge one in the middle of her front yard. Many fond memories of it. (The supple branches made good switches, too, but she never used them on me)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place. I could live there very easily!
