Waiting For The Berries To Ripen


Little green berries
Soon you'll be dark and sweet
Cobbler and Ice Cream.


Ah, the sweet taste of blackberry cobbler! I can hardly wait to put the dough and berries in the pan and smell the sweet aroma spreading through the house as it bakes to a light golden brown. When it's time to remove it from the oven I'll let it sit just long enough to let the flavors mingle and cool just a tad bit as my Mom would say. Then I'll cut a piece from the pan and put it on a plate and add a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. Hmmm.... the taste is delicious!
Now, if I can just keep those pesky birds away just a little longer!

    Recipe? I've got raspberries ripening in my backyard, and blueberries are aplenty now in NJ. 2.5 cases of blueberries in my fridge waiting for a home.

    Eating berries straight from the bush is my favorite summer treat.

    Ah... your very own berries fresh from the vine. Sounds lovely. My niece just discovered that their house (moved in last year) has a producing plum tree. I think my favorite is almost any fruit uncooked. Cherries and watermelon and grapes and...

    Our blackberries are just about gone now. There is a huge field of them next to us that I rob every chance I get.
    My favorite summer treat is early summer strawberries. Strawberry shortcake....YUM!!
