Skywatch Friday
Happy Birthday West Virginia

West Virginia Day
Happy 145 Anniversary
(June 20, 1863 - June 20, 2008)
That first photo was taken going up the mountain. As you descend on the other side Saddle Mountain is visible from a scenic overlook. The mountain is at 1,775 feet elevation above sea level. Awesome! The next two photos I zoomed in a little each time to give you a better view.

I hope you liked your visit today to the Wild and Wonderful West Virginia Mountains!

  5. My ex-husband drove an 18 wheeler, and I have cross crossed West Virginia many times. I have been at that scenic lookout and seen this view. Looking at your photograph brought back the sense of peace and awe I left while standing there.

    Happy Birthday West Virginia.

  10. We used to spend a lot of time in West Virginia when we were camping and doing nature photography on a regular basis. Just can’t seem to get back into the photography. Motivation seems to be gone, but I think it will get better after I have a knee replacement. Beautiful area. Loved the photos.

  36. West Virginia looks "generous" I mean concerning space. Funny that curve right in the middle!
And so green! Wouldn't it be a little rainy?
Anyway, it looks immense and restful.
